[PulseAudio] Can't change volume

Hey, following installing Arch the other day, and getting sound 'working' I can't seem to change the volume. I'd heard to use Pulse for it, but when I go to open pavucontrol, I get this error.

Re: [PulseAudio] Can't change volume

I normally use alsamixer to change the volume. Does that work?

Not sure what the error is suppossed to show.

Re: [PulseAudio] Can't change volume

Alsamixer doesn't come up with an option to change the volume, the site says that it has limited compatibility with my sound card, and suggested I use PulseAudio. All I need to be able to do is change the volume, it's stuck on 152% - see ncmpcpp. I can't change the volume using either ncmpcpp or pavucontrol.

Re: [PulseAudio] Can't change volume

It sounds like neither alsa nor pulseaudio are recognizing your card. I believe this might be relevant for alsa:

In general I don't like using pulseaudio at all (I've had to remove it several times to get sound working) but that's just my opinion. The troubleshooting guide above is generally pretty helpful, I'd poke through it and try a bunch of stuff. Hope that helps.
