OpenOffice

When I run /opt/openoffice/setup, I am promted to select a directory to install openoffice to, I would have thought /opt would be the appropriate dir, but since the setup files are there, it may not be a good destination after all. What do you suggest?

yopu should do a workstation "install" and install to the default directory which is /home/username/OpenOffice.....

That's exactly the topic of this thread ;-).
That's also why Sarah put the word install in quotes. In OpenOffice lingo, setup will perform a workstation install, which really is just setting up the directories in your home directory.
