[Fixed] Firefox scrollbar glitch

Hi!
I experience a glitch in the firefox scollbar since the latest updates. It happens on both, my PC and Laptop. Both use radeon opensource drivers.
Graphic cards: ATI Radeon HD 4770 and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650

How to reproduce:
1. Put your firefox scollbar into its lowest position
2. Now grab the scrollbar and raise it slowly
3. You should see some "black lines" on the scrollbar
4. Release your mouse button and the lines should disappear

A photo:

Can anybody reproduce this? Might it be connected with this glitch https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=156456 ? It's both glitches that occur since the latest updates.

Which drivers fault is this?

best regards
nuc

Re: [Fixed] Firefox scrollbar glitch

I just tried (Firefox 18, Intel i915 sna, dwm).  I was unable to reproduce the effect.  If you think it is the driver, perhaps you could try out the proprietary one and see if it changes anything.  It might also be your window manager.  What are you using?

I'm mainly using xfce4 with xfwm. I just tried Razor-qt with xfwm and it seems razor-qt doesnt' have this bug. Maybe it's GTK related?

I have no idea.  Firefox should still be using gtk2 unless you are using a qt build of firefox.

Same issue here. XFCE & Nvidia drivers.

Re: [Fixed] Firefox scrollbar glitch

Found out that it has something to with gtk(-themes). It doesn't affect all themes, but one theme that is affected and certainly a wide range of users has on their computers is Clearlooks. So if you try to reproduce it, try with Clearlooks.
moneytoo's post proves that it's not driver related.

Re: [Fixed] Firefox scrollbar glitch

My window manager is dwm, I'm running nvidia drivers, and the scrollbar bug occurs with gtk2's clearlooks, industrial, and mist themes.  If you grab the scrollbar and move it very fast, the bug doesn't show itself.  It appears that the scrollbar tracks disappear if you move your mouse out of the Firefox window and back in again, too.

It's a firefox 18 bug since firefox 17 isn't affected (just tested this out)

Re: [Fixed] Firefox scrollbar glitch

It occurs here with a custom theme I modified based on the Murrine engine (I hadn't noticed it until now, since my theme is very dark).  I think it's GTK as a whole, or a driver bug, as it doesn't appear to be theme engine-specific.

Xfce/Compiz and NVIDIA blob, BTW.

Re: [Fixed] Firefox scrollbar glitch

Something tells me --enable-system-cairo (which still requires a patch! grrr) would fix it.

Great things come in tar.xz packages.

Arrr, Firefox 18 really pisses me off...

That is not acceptable. IMHO Firefox should change it's release policy.

I switched to chromium in the meantime.

Re: [Fixed] Firefox scrollbar glitch

The funny thing is, they started using this release policy in response to chromium. Back when a major version bump took over a year, firefox really seemed like a more polished program.
