Intel and OpenGL problem

So, after a bit of googling and searching on my part, I've come to a conclusion to finally post on this forum for help.

To start off with, I'll give basic system specs to help you help me ( integrated graphic chipset )

- Intel 965 GM Express Chipset

So yeah, I've installed the "latest" video drivers using

pacman -S xf86-video-intel

Which installed the package: xf86-video-intel-2.20.19-1

According to my research, that is the LATEST intel driver. Yet, whenever I try to use "glxinfo" in the Terminal, I get this

GLX version: 1.4
OpenGL version: 2.1
OpenGL shading language version: 1.2

Now, the "problem" is that: isn't the OpenGL version (and OpenGL shading language version) supposed to be higher than their values? I've seen some people with OpenGL shading language 3.x and whatever else they got. Is it meant to stay at 2.1 and 1.2 or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you for helping me, in advance.

Re: Intel and OpenGL problem

It's very possible your chip is too old to support the newer versions of OpenGL...

Re: Intel and OpenGL problem

You won't get more than opengl 2.1 out of an 965. Not even Ironlake supports more (well, the only thing it's missing for opengl 3 is anti-aliasing). Sandy Bridge and up support opengl 3+

Alright, thanks guys! Well, this sucks though. I've read that TF2 needs *atleast* GLSL 1.3 to run, although, I have 1.2 D:<

Re: Intel and OpenGL problem

It does suck (try using modern secondlife viewers with our card), but it can't be helped.
