I posted about my issues with bluetooth before: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=126487
The solution is apparently to patch ath3k.c and btusb.c:
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Dri … 1_over_USB
I need to add my VID/PID (0x04f2, 0xaff1) to the supported devices in ath3k and blacklisted devices in btusb (a similar patch can be seen here.
Is there a solution to this other than to ABS the kernel and makepkg each time I want to update?

Well, yeah - but it's an upstream solution. Has the patch been submitted to the kernel devs?
<edit>Never mind, didn't notice your kernel git link.
You just need to wait for them to merge it - until then, just don't upgrade your kernel.

I don't know if this has been submitted or not. The kernel git link is only a similar patch. I suppose I could submit it with my VID/PID added. Darn was hoping for a less painful (and faster) solution. Thanks.

There is one more (kinda remote) possibility: if you can build those modules on their own i.e. outside the kernel tree, that would be a whole lot faster.

That's what I was hoping to be able to do, I just don't know how, lol.

Well, I emailed the maintainers and mailing list with the patch (and description of the problem it solves). Not sure how I'm supposed to properly submit stuff like this.
