Hi
I have a little problem. My Arch linux wont turn off. After I change open drivers to catalyst I have this problem. I try shutdown -h now and poweroff but system stop after words "All DM devices detached". Hard disk stop but all fans still work and i see on screen everything. I add "nomodeset" to my grub option and I dont know what cause this problem. I searching in google but I cannot find anything helpful.

Try 'systemctl poweroff'. 'shutdown -h' shouldn't poweroff the system; only halt it, i.e. stop all activity, while remaining on.

systemctl poweroff wont work its the same effect. Hard disk stop but fans still spinning.

For what it's worth I'm having this problem also. In fact, since switching to systemd, I've been having variations of this issue. The final messages are different, but the result is the same: the box will NOT powerdown on its own...
Hey, be nice...I'm new at this!

I have some solution but its not comfortable. I must logout from my kde and then shutdown computer. Then all works

I have the similar problem. Last system message is "System halted" but the display is still working and the the laptop does not power off. This is a recent bug.

Maybe try adding the shutdown hook to mkinitcpio.conf and regenerating initramfs.

Is the shutdown command being ran as user? I had somewhat same issue with xfce power management and ACPI. Starting from cli.

OK, solved by running "systemctl poweroff" instead of "halt"

Starting by systemd service kdm.
