DeaDBeeF really, reaaaaally needs an ncurses plugin. That would absolutely kick ass. (But I love the GTK2 plugin)

damn, qt-version? so cool
hpoe we'll get an AUR for this?

The qt plugin is not really usable at the moment. I guess it'll take quite some time to finish it.

Why does it use the default gtk2 theme instead of my ~/.gtkrc-2.0?
Offline
I think it uses gtk3 theme.

Hmm strange...

DeaDBeeF is an awesome player, I really like it but I'm a lxde user and it uses GTK2 for almost everything
If we read this http://www.archlinux.org/packages/commu … /deadbeef/ deadbeef is "An audio player for GNU/Linux based on GTK2."... So why does it require GTK3? If I use 0.5.5-1 package from ARM, it doesn't need gtk3 neither any depedencies from it while if I use 0.5.5-2, it downloads gtk3 and all depedencies.
Provabably the DeaDBeef description needs editing or needs to be recompiled with GTK2 just like 0.5.5-1

The configure script enables GTK2 and disables GTK3 by default. The PKGBUILD enables GTK3 by default (in addition to GTK2), so GTK3 becomes a dependency. You can switch between the two in Preferences > GUI > GUI Plugin. If you want to remove the dependency on GTK3 completely, remove "--enable-gtk3" and remove the dependency on gtk3 in PKGBUILD.

I've used this player for a long time and it works pretty damn well for everything I need. I wonder how hard it is to make a toggleable menu and volume bars?
EDIT1. Oh right I forgot to mention that auto-resize doesn't work when you have hidden column headers. Also sometimes it gets messed up with both GTK2 and GTK3.

quick question: when I go into Edit->Prefs->Global Hotkeys I can't seem to get any key combos to enter...what gives? Am I doing something wrong, missing an extra package?
Thanks for the otherwise awesome app!

Adding global hokeys is a bit tricky as the input focus seems to be a bit messed up. When you select an action from the drop down list, the focus is changed to the combo widget. When you attempt to set a key, the focus appears to still remain on the now non-existing drop down list. Hence, whatever key you press, nothing happens. To get it working, after you select an action from the drop down list, click on the white area, then click on "New Accelerator...". Then, it should accept your key inputs.

NICE!!! a media player that does NOT have a library!!! and doesn't suck either!!!! thank you!!!
I love how fast it starts.

So hey I manage to build a AUR package for deadbeef-qt! It's work quite well, go and try it.
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/deadbeef-qt
P.S: (could it be possible to port deadbeef-plugin-vk with qt?)

My Rhythmbox stopped working which makes Deadbeef now my main music player. How can I adjust the window size so that it stays like that every time I start the program? Modifying the config file gets overwritten despite the program being closed.

The deadbeef package needs a rebuild against the new gtk3 libs. Just use abs and rebuild and it will work fine Or if you want gtk2 you can use deadbeef-gtk2.

Awesome player! I'm using it instead of cmus now.
How can I get the notifications working on i3wm with something like dunst or another notification daemon (other than notify-osd)?

Thanks very much! Now I also know what abs is and sort of how to work it!
Will this kind of rebuilt package be ok when updating normally the next time (when there is a new version) with pacman?

Are notifications not working for you? I think you just uninstall the daemon you don't want and install dunst.

Normally when a packages adds a fix/patch or a rebuild it will only update the 'pkgrel' number. So if you just did a makepkg form the files /var/abs/communtiy/deadbeef and made no changed to the PKGBUILD, you will be fine.

You can change between gtk2 and gtk3 in the preferences (GUI/MISC) or am I misunderstanding something?
btw, has anyone read anything new about implementing support for the Opus codec?
Offline
Actually, you can't change between GTK2 and GTK3 unless you manually add the GTK2 plugin lib, on the version that's on the repos. I only use the GTK2 version because even though I have set the gtk-toolbar-icon-size=GTK_ICON_SIZE_SMALL_TOOLBAR, on the GTK3 version icons are huge.

Yes you're correct, should've tried it out first

Any simple way to re-search the folders that were added? Sometimes I download a song or two, and want to use some sort of "refresh library" button.
Offline
AFAIK that's not possible since DeaDBeeF doesn't use a library.

Great player! Very nice and clean interface. A feature I miss is a tree like genre/artist/album library. I installed File Browser but the plugin does not show in plugins list. I wish I could add song rating and play count columns.
