Re: Arch Linux 2013 Install

I have been wanting a lt;dr version of the beginners guide but be aware that the OP's makes some assumptions about your partition scheme, boot loader preferences, etc.  Still a good stab at it.

Re: Arch Linux 2013 Install

Firstly, please be assured that I'm only trying to be constructive here. You are, of course, free to ignore any or all of the following if you wish.

As you have chosen to write your documentation in English, would it be possible to put a little more effort into making sure it is correct English? I have taken a quick look at some of your other articles, and it seems you are more proficient than this article would suggest. A distro installation is not a trivial operation, and in my opinion users would appreciate as much clarity as possible.

Re: Arch Linux 2013 Install

It's very awesome big_smile

I have a question after following your tutorial:
Slim allows root log in but normal user cannot login.
How to fix that, thanks a lot!

Re: Arch Linux 2013 Install

@orangejuice, It's really just a dummyfied/simplified version of official wiki but thank you smile As for regular user, did you set password for it ?

Re: Arch Linux 2013 Install

@TuxLyn: I've tried 2 cases:
1. I add user and set password before install xfce+slim
2. I add user and set password after using root to log in xfce (via slim)

In 2 cases, only root can log in via slim sad
Do you know why?

Re: Arch Linux 2013 Install

Good work tuxLyn. But I would have to say its very minimal. For anyone reading this thread its still always better to learn to set things up yourselves by following the arch wiki.

@TuxLyn
Can you add about setting up wireless or ethernet for base installation, since you are describing a net install.

Re: Arch Linux 2013 Install

Thank you guys, I will update it with ever stable XFCE release smile Because XFCE 4.12 missed its release schedule date this time, it will take a bit longer. Each time I update this tutorial is when I do fresh install so its tested and working smile But I do recommend official wiki installation guide if you're new to Arch Linux and never installed it before.
