Re: Blank screen.

no errors, so it runs. install a window manager or desktop environment which fits your needs

or install xterm, add it to the xinit script to get a terminal instead of a blank screen
then restart the x server

Show us your .xinitrc.

Re: Blank screen.

Did you set executable permission on xinitrc? If yes, try to copy the default one from /etc/skel/.xinitrc, that if statement at the beginning looks important.

Re: Blank screen.

So i think it has something to do with the nvidia drivers, i switched back to the nouveau and i now can log into gnome.

from the nvidia wiki page

Warning: The proprietary NVIDIA drivers *may* NOT work with EFI systems. You may need to run BIOS to use them.

is this the problem they are refering to? and is there a work around? i dont want to use BIOS and have to use rEFIt.

Re: Blank screen.

I just compared your Xorg.log output above with mine (running nvidia on an iMac). Mine is *much* longer. Your last line "[   668.368] (**) NVIDIA(0): Enabling 2D acceleration" is only about 38% into the whole Xorg.log for me. In other words: Yours seems to hang right there, during enabling of 2D acceleration.

nvidia seems to be a bit unreliable here and there. See this thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=152645

Happy hunting.

Re: Blank screen.

Got the exact same issue. Also on a macbook, 7.1 sporting a geforce 320m. driver version 313.30. It starts up and hangs after printing "Enabling 2D acceleration".
Nouveau works fine though. I've had the nvidia driver working on this macbook before though. Have you made any progress Dissident85?
