How do I fix invalid / unknown trust signatures?

When I install chromium, or try to, it says the signature from such and such is invalid. How do I fix this? I have already done: pacman-key --init and then, pacman-key -populate archlinux. What am I missing? Thanks for the help

Re: How do I fix invalid / unknown trust signatures?

Hi,

Just a suggestion but it may be valid. Last time I have seen the unknown / untrusted signature was when my machine has downloaded corrupted file.

Please try (if possible) finding and deleting (as root) the chromium[the_version_that_You_want_to_install].tar.xz file in /var/cache/packman/pkg/ folder and then try installing chromium again. It should re-download the package and re-check the signature.

Again - not a 100% sure solution - just something that worked for me in the past and may or may not work for You.

Regards.

Andrzej

@AndrzejL
Yours may be a different situation, one about invalid or corrupted package: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pa … ion_failed (next to last question).

@treeman1111
Try

pacman-key --refresh-keys

If you haven't done so already, you might want to try updating archlinux-keyring.

# pacman -S archlinux-keyring

Hi Dude.

I know that my solution is a long shot and that the mileage may vary for OP. I was improvising... MacGyvering I would even say...

And about the corrupted package... that just happens here - I am on a terrible broadband from three.ie (3G USB dongle...) it sometimes breaks the connection (as in disconnects) or all of the sudden I get the bytes per second speed... Waiting to move to another house to get proper landline and broadband... till then I just have to re-download a package or two every once in a while...

Regards.

Yeah, I get this problem with everything I try installing - I fixed it in setup, but now it has reappeared.

Which setup? And how did you fix it?

The computer I was setting it up on was an antiquated Dell Optiplex using a Pentium 4 processor. I based my install off of the Beginners' Guide on the wiki.

Re: How do I fix invalid / unknown trust signatures?

So have you tried the fix? Or any of the suggestions made here? (Mainly upgrading the keyring package.)

Is your system up to date? That is, you are running pacman -Syu before pacman -S <package>, right?

Yes, I tried all of the things posted here, and to no avail.
