[SOLVED]No login prompt

HI,

arclinux is running well for one month without X on a laptop.
Since I install X server and xf86-video-nouveau or nvidia, I don't have  login prompt after system  boot. The last line displayed is : Loading initial ramdisk.

The system start and the only access is possible through SSH.

Solution tested:
remove all packages installed (xorg*, nouveau, nvidia),
access TTY with keyboard key: ctrl+alt+F*

Is it a systemd issues ?
Any idea ?

Thanks in advance.

Re: [SOLVED]No login prompt

KMS early start must be messing you up. Does it get further if you blacklist the nouveau module? There might not be a way to run "dmesg" when the system is unbootable like that but I'm sure that same information can be found in "/var/log/kernel.log.*" afterwards.

Great things come in tar.xz packages.

Re: [SOLVED]No login prompt

Hi,

I have already blacklisted the "nouveau" module.
You can find below the ouput of dmesg utility. I see nothing strange.
I think it's a systemd issue.

dmesg output:

Re: [SOLVED]No login prompt

You can always try disabling vesafb to see if you can get a normal console without hanging. And that has happened to me once when I had a defective USB hub plugged in.

Great things come in tar.xz packages.

Re: [SOLVED]No login prompt

After editing "/etc/default/grub", don't forget to re-generate a new grub.cfg:

# grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

"How to Succeed with Linux"

I have made a personal commitment not to reply in topics that start with a lowercase letter. Proper grammar and punctuation is a sign of respect, and if you do not show any, you will NOT receive any help (at least not from me).
