[solved] KDE logout after resume from supend

hi,

my laptop sometimes logs me out after resume from suspend. (kde 4.9.5 on a up to date arch install with systemd.)

i tried to use sytsemd only but i can't remove pm-utils. i disabled some modules in /etc/pm/config.d/modules but i don't know if this is even considered when running acpid/pm-utils and systemd in parallel.

any hints?

cheers

Re: [solved] KDE logout after resume from supend

Why would you want to remove pm-utils? KDE needs upower?

Re: [solved] KDE logout after resume from supend

because i thought pm-utils and systemd are conflicting.

No, they're not actually. Have you looked in the systemd journal and/or logs to see what's happening after resume?

Re: [solved] KDE logout after resume from supend

with journactl i found:

Jan 29 12:21:42 tp systemd-coredump[24571]: Process 14986 (X) dumped core.

journalctl | grep 14986 gives:

journalctl  | grep 24571 gives:

so it's acpid?

here my complete journactl from that time frame:

Re: [solved] KDE logout after resume from supend

so it's acpid?

No, looks like the xorg server crashes upon resume. It restarts automatically, that's why you see a login screen. Have you looked in /var/log/Xorg.0.log for clues?
What's your hardware setup?

Re: [solved] KDE logout after resume from supend

Do you have a xorg.conf in /etc/X11 ? What files are in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d ?

What's the output of:

cat /etc/mkinitcpio.conf |egrep -i "^modules"

and

lsmod |grep -i i915

Is your system fully updated ?

Re: [solved] KDE logout after resume from supend

I created /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf with:

Section "Device"
   Identifier "Intel Graphics"
   Driver "intel"
EndSection

from bbs.archlinux.de

that removed the vesa, modesetting, fbdev errors.

creating fonts.dir with mkfontdir the other warnings.

ls /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d:

10-evdev.conf 10-quirks.conf 20-intel.conf 50-synaptics.conf

In /etc/mkinitcpio.conf are no modules listed (MODULES="") but i915 is loaded:

i915 526542 9
drm_kms_helper 33007 1 i915
drm 225482 5 i915,drm_kms_helper
video 11332 1 i915
i2c_algo_bit 5392 1 i915
i2c_core 23076 6 drm,i915,i2c_i801,drm_kms_helper,i2c_algo_bit,videodev
intel_agp 10745 1 i915
intel_gtt 15361 3 i915,intel_agp
button 4670 1 i915

Re: [solved] KDE logout after resume from supend

Can you please modify the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf file:

Section "Device"
        Identifier "Intel Graphics"
        Driver "intel"
        Option "Accelmethod" "sna"
EndSection

Additionally, add the i915 module to the /etc/mkinitcpio.conf file:

MODULES="i915"

Rebuild the image afterwards:

# mkinitcpio -p linux

Please reboot and see if that helps.

Re: [solved] KDE logout after resume from supend

Sometimes it happened to me too on intel i915, but with tuxonice and just before going into hibernation.
Maybe related, maybe not...

Re: [solved] KDE logout after resume from supend

I guess this has something to do with systemd, because before systemd suspend/resume worked without a problem. I don't know the exact date it began, but it was around that time i moved to systemd.

I tried setting HandleLidSwitch=ignore in /etc/systemd/logind.conf, maybe it helps.
