Suspend to RAM fails after resume

Hi there,

I've got into trouble with the latest Arch Linux (kernel version 3.6.11-1-ARCH). Everything is ok but I can't use the suspend to RAM feature. When I suspend my desktop and then want to resume, it freezes completely, not even the reset button works (!). Fortunately, it doesn't always freeze immediately after resume, but after two or three seconds, so I had got an idea. I started 'dmesg -w' on a terminal, then suspended and resumed my desktop. I got a few kernel messages that could be helpful or interesting. It could be a problem with ATA, but I'm not pretty sure, maybe it's a kernel bug according to what I read on random places when I tried to Google a solution to my problem. Here I attached the output of 'dmesg -w'. Since the computer has frozen, I had to take a photo of it tongue

Technical stuff

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz
Chipset: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200
Memory: 4 GB
Kernel: 3.6.11-1-ARCH

Thanks for your help in advance,

Re: Suspend to RAM fails after resume

Although it's probably not the issue, the latest Kernel is 3.7.4-1-ARCH, so at least make sure your system is up to date. Also, I'm not sure if it matters, but what method do you use to suspend to ram?

Yeah, I'm using an older version of the Linux Kernel. Standby method is the method that XFCE4 uses. I'm not sure which one it is.

Re: Suspend to RAM fails after resume

I don't really see anything wrong in the dmesg image (you probably should have resized that to make it easier to load with a link).

Try some alternate methods for suspending and see if it is the kernel or something fishy with XFCE:
