Error while installing Arch on Flybook A33i (Transmeta Crusoe) via USB

Hi guys,

the bootable USB works wonders on my main machine, but on my Flybook A33i it throws this error:

Loading boot/i686/vmlinuz....
Loading boot/i686/archiso.img...........ready.
Probing EDD (edd=off to disable)... ok

Bailing out, you are on your own. Good luck.

sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

And I get thrown out to rootfs. What do I do?

Thanks!

Re: Error while installing Arch on Flybook A33i (Transmeta Crusoe) via USB

Hey!

Even though I can't provide a solution yet I have the exact same problem on a
Fujitsu Siemens Futro S300 with a Transmeta Crusoe CPU while trying to boot from USB.
Ideas anyone?

Your CPU is reported as i585, so archiso hook can not found i686 images. Anyway for some reason Linux is able to boot (maybe is an hybrid?), in that case you can try to force an arch type passing arch=i686.
I can not guarantee that system will run OK...

Re: Error while installing Arch on Flybook A33i (Transmeta Crusoe) via USB

I have the same problem. I just installed arch linux on my netbook and everything went ok.
Now I am trying to use it on my dell precision 690 desktop but I am not able to boot from live cd or live usb.
The boot terminates with :
ERROR: Failed to mount the real root device.

I would like to say that ALL other linux distros can be installed correctly.
Any suggestion?
Thanks a lot

Is it such a rare error?

make sure your fstab and boot loader match for root filesystem.
