port X reset error -110 at Boot

Could someone please take a look at the errors I'm getting at boot and let me know suggestions to troubleshoot? Or are they okay to ignore?

The lines causing concern are:

Full journalctl -b at https://gist.github.com/4670776

I also captured lsusb -v in case it is needed.

I found https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=135932 which seems to indicate that I may, or may not, have a serious issue that could damage components.

Also, any help with interpreting the log files, especially lsusb, is appreciated.

Re: port X reset error -110 at Boot

Do your usb ports work?  What do you have plugged into them?

Re: port X reset error -110 at Boot

I haven't plugged anything in yet due to concern after seeing the 'over-current condition' that showed up during the first reboot after installing Arch.  I'll test the ports tonight with an old USB keyboard or flash drive.

Re: port X reset error -110 at Boot

I tested both front ports and a couple of the rear USB ports with a keyboard, and all of the ports worked properly.

So should I just ignore the errors unless something else happens?

Re: port X reset error -110 at Boot

Run lsusb -v with things plugged into the ports and compare the output to the previous lsusb -v (and journalctl as well).  I'll check something else when I get home in a couple of hours on my machine as well.

I think your machine might be misreading the proper current for your ports based on this:

 bmAttributes 0xe0
Self Powered
Remote Wakeup
MaxPower 0mA

Do you know if these ports are powered, i.e., can you plug a phone in and it charges?  If so, then this report of "Self Powered" and "MaxPower 0mA" is wrong (or indicative of some sort of sleep mode?).  If it is because they are being powered down, this should change when you plug something into it and it wakes up.

Re: port X reset error -110 at Boot

OK, here are t]he links to the journalctl -b (https://gist.github.com/4680259) and lsusb -v(https://gist.github.com/4680005) with the USB keyboard plugged in a rear port and a phone connected to a front port.

All of the USB ports are powered.  They all charge my phone, but I cannot see a difference in the lsusb for the phone charging.  Though clearly there is an additionial entry for the keyboard.

Re: port X reset error -110 at Boot

There was still the over-current condition report on ports 7 and 8, but your previous journalctl had over-current reports on 5, 6, 7, and 8.  I suspect 5 and 6 dropped out of the list because they had something plugged into them.  Also, the current mentioned for your keyboard looked fine (70mA).

I think this probably isn't going to be an issue for you.  Of course, I say that and something blows up, but as far as I can tell, you aren't in danger.  If I were you, I would just do a visual inspection of the ports.  If they don't look damaged or dirty I would continue to use them (if they are dirty, clean them and see if that improves things).

Re: port X reset error -110 at Boot

Thanks very much for your help, especially with what to look for in the log files/output.  I'll clean out the ports and see if the messages go away, but I won't worry unless other 'symptoms' come up.
