HP kde backlight nvidia 313.18

Hi, i have an elitebook 8560w. Under gnome the backlight seemed to work fine. In kde the function keys made the popup to appear, but the backlight was not changed. After latest updates even the popup does not show up.
I've tried echoing into /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness and it worked

I tried also the solutions from this thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=151119
1. enabling brightness control in device section in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf - no change in behaviour
2. change acpi_backlight to vendor - even the /sys/class/backlight/ is empty.

In the thread previously mentioned they claim everything works fine. Is there anybody with hp laptops experiencing the same behaviour?

just a quick note: there is an ambient sensor on the notebook, which works fine. Low ambient lightness -> dims the screen, light environment -> lightens the display.
I tried to disable it in the BIOS. No change in KDE. I can only set backlight brightness through echoing into /sys/class/backlight/...
