advmenu only showing on left half of the screen

I have a fresh Arch install that I installed advmenu onto.  I also installed sdlmame and the drivers for my grahics card (x86fb-video-intel).  I can `startx` and have my nice little window manager w/ xterm and xclock, but when I start advmenu it squishes to the left hand side of the screen and seems extra pink.

Is there a separate video config I should be setting for advmenu?
