Complete system Crash with USB wireless adapter
Hey all,
I have an older computer without a wireless card built in so I connected it to a netgear n900 USB wireless adapter. I followed the instructions on the wiki and on many forums across many distros and got the drivers installed. I then booted up wifi-menu and everything seemed to be going well, it seemed to connect to my wireless internet. However, it gave an error: nl80211: unable to configure driver into managed mode. I can ping fine from the terminal but anytime I open up a browser, the whole system freezes. I'm stumped. Is there an additional package/driver that I need? If you need any terminal output or any other info just ask.
Any Ideas?

Thanks for the advice! unfortunately, I've already done something similar to that following villian999's instructions here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=149329 and I still get the error. Any other ideas?

So you've modified and installed rt3573sta as specified in the page I linked to? Read this and see if it helps:

Thanks The Sad Clown for all your help, unfortunately I did everything that your second link said to do but to no avail, still same issue. I decided to pull out an old wireless extender that I have that has an Ethernet port on it and set it up next to my computer and hard wire my computer into it. Everything is working fine. I probably should have started with the extender in the first place but oh well. The Sad Clown, Thanks again for all your help. I'll continue working on this problem in my spare time and see if I make any breakthroughs for anyone having similar problems.
