Hello,
I would like to install Arch Linux in VMware Player. Creating the new virtual machine the software (VMware Player 5.0.1 installed on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS) ask me what kind of OS I'm going to install. I've ticked the Linux option but in the menu, among several Linux distros I can't find ArchLinux.
I've checked in ArchWiki but couldn't find an answer to my question.
Cheers,
Gianluca

Look for something like "other linux" or 'generic' .
(iirc other linux was used in VMware workstation 4 and 5, have used kvm/qemu for a long time now).

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

The only other "generic" choices are:
- other Linux 2.6.x kernel
- other Linux 2.6.x kernel 64-bit
- other Linux 2.4.x kernel
- other Linux 2.4.x kernel 64-bit
- other Linux 2.2.x kernel
Current install medium has linux 3.6.8

Use "other Linux 2.6.x kernel 64-bit"
It will work just fine.
