Problem with wireless controller BCM4312

Hello!

I have dell xps-m1330 laptop with BCM4312 wireless card on board. Here is the output of lspci command:

$ lspci -nvv | grep 14e4
09:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Broadcom Corporation NetLink BCM5906M Fast Ethernet PCI Express [14e4:1713] (rev 02)
0c:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY [14e4:4315] (rev 01)

I have installed b43 driver folowing instructions on wiki page for my laptop, which redirects to broadcom wireless wiki. I have installed b43-fwcutter from repo and b43-firmware from AUR.

After reboot, b43 kernel module seems to be loaded:

$ lsmod | grep b43
b43                   362413  0
bcma                   28684  1 b43
mac80211              432338  1 b43
cfg80211              179435  2 b43,mac80211
ssb                    51756  1 b43
pcmcia                 46261  2 b43,ssb
mmc_core               90305  4 b43,ssb,sdhci,sdhci_pci

but there isn't any wireless interface:

$ iwconfig
lo        no wireless extensions.

enp9s0    no wireless extensions.

$ ip addr
1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN
    link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
    inet 127.0.0.1/8 scope host lo
    inet6 ::1/128 scope host
       valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
2: enp9s0: <NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc mq state DOWN qlen 1000

    inet6 fe80::221:9bff:fed3:6962/64 scope link
       valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever

Here is the output from dmesg:

$ dmesg | grep b43
[    4.224790] b43-phy0: Broadcom 4312 WLAN found (core revision 15)
[    4.260245] b43-phy0: Found PHY: Analog 6, Type 5 (LP), Revision 1

[    4.283850] b43-phy0 ERROR: Firmware file "b43-open/ucode15.fw" not found

I would appreciate any help on getting wireless interface up. Sorry for my English.

Re: Problem with wireless controller BCM4312

I have forgot to specify my kernel version. It is 3.7.8-1, x86_64.

Re: Problem with wireless controller BCM4312

That error message is couldn't be clearer - firmware isn't there. You said you installed b43-firmware, but apparently you didn't. Make sure the firmware is installed properly.

Re: Problem with wireless controller BCM4312

Thanks for the fast response!
I've got it working now. Seems like I forgot to run "pacman -U ..." after makepkg smile
