VLC problem with playing sound from .wmv files.

After a very recent full system upgrade, vlc has an issue playing audio from .wmv files. It seems to be playing the audio but there is also a lot of noise so it's nearly impossible to hear the actual track. VLC still plays all other files I threw at it. Also, mplayer correctly plays the .wmv files that vlc has a problem with. After some tinkering I have isolated the problem to three packages: vlc, ffmpeg, x264. After downgrading these packages, vlc works properly again. I tested on i686 and x86_64 and had the same results.

Problematic packages:
ffmpeg-1:1.1.2-2
x264-20130206-1
vlc-2.0.5-3

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? But most importantly, how do I submit a bug report for this? Is it upstream and how can I know which package exactly causes this?

EDIT: I made a bug report.
