Noatun: getting "only one session" option to work

When I use Noatun with the "allow only one session" option, and terminate the playing of one file early by playing another, I get a second (minimized) Noatun window (with a timer icon) and the Noatun icon under my cursor, indicating that the program is starting. These will both stay around until I click the Noatun icon in the system tray. What causes this, and is there a way to prevent it?
