Is there a way to get pkgstats package statistics ( https://www.archlinux.de/?page=Statistics ) when doing pacman -Qs in pacman or a pacman wrapper such as yaourt?
This would be useful when looking for new software to know which software to try first. Also it would be fun to see what other archers use.
Any thoughts?

For the AUR stuff, you could reference the number of votes when searching. But you mention using query (-Q) so I am not exactly sure what you are asking.
If you are indeed asking about popularity when searching, I think the popularity of AUR packages holds quite a bit more significance than report packages since they are not nearly as well maintained. Other than that I know of no software/wrapper/script that does this. Maybe it would make for a good project?

As far as I know, there is no RPC interface to retrieve those stats number in an AUR helper, unlike the AUR.
You might want to ask the maintainer of pkgstats about it in the pkgstats thread.
Funny fact: Only 99.41% of users that submitted stats with pkgstats had the pkgstats package installed ![]()
