EFI on Macbook Air

Hey gang,

I'm trying to get an Arch install up and running on my 2012 Macbook Air. When I boot my install medium (whether it be archboot or the latest official image) I can't get /sys/firmware/efi to show up after I modprobe efivars. Installing on my UEFI mobo for my desktop I had to use refind back in the day but even with archboot (which uses refind if I remember correctly) I can't get it to work.

I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks!

Re: EFI on Macbook Air

You have to make a UEFI live media.  There are instructions on the wiki for doing this.  If you simply dd the iso to a usb stick, it will boot with compatibility mode.

Wow, I feel dumb. I was using archboot because I assumed It would be ready to boot into EFI if I dd'd (wow, never using that as a verb again)

Making directories and loop mounting over VNC as we speak.

Thanks man. Working on pulling my Linux training wheels off again, it's been a bit.

No problem... BTW I think it would be dded.  Though I like your "dd'd" as it looks neat.
