KDE 4.10 desktop effect performance regression

Hi,

recently I upgraded from KDE 4.9.5 to 4.10, running on my Dell XPS 1330 Nvidia graphics system.

I noticed, that the desktop switching sliding effect is not working as smooth as before now, also yakuake redraws around 3 times when showing/hiding. This is a regression to 4.9.5, where everything was smooth. Showing all virtual desktops and the scale effect are smooth though.

As I was using the Plastik theme, I thought it may be this problem: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=314532, but following the suggestions it did not help.

Those problems look silly, but having a smooth working desktop is more fun smile

Is anybody else experiencing this?

Re: KDE 4.10 desktop effect performance regression

I had some performance regressions after upgrade, animations as a whole were pretty sluggish. I messed around in the Desktop Effects System Settings section, disabling then re-enabling desktop effects seemed to improve everything quite a lot. No idea why.

Re: KDE 4.10 desktop effect performance regression

Hi,

thanks for the hint.
I did it again and updated to 4.10. Also I removed .kde/share/config/kwin* and now everything is OK again. Some effects seem to be even faster smile
