Hello guys,
I have this problem with every program that should shows in the tray. If I run tint2 as root they are in the tray (and tint2 use the conf file from /etc/xdg..) otherwise not and tint2 use the conf file from .config/...
Same with batti and stuff like that. Any idea? I struggle with it
Thanks

Lots of programs read it parameters from $HOME dot files, and, if thats not avaible, it reads the default parameters from /etc, so what I mean is that behavior is normal.
I don't know why it does not show your programs, but what I would try is to copy your tint2 settings from /etc to your $HOME and make sure the ownership is correct.

No.
Open source is about opening the source code complying with this conditions, period. The ability to choose among several packages is just a nice side effect.

First why are you running tint2 as root? Secondly if you want to customize your tint2 settings for root, try creating and editing /root/.config/tint2/tint2rc.

If this is KDE you may need to disable the Status Notifier Manager service.

He meant that he want to run it as his user, but it does not work that way. He only mentioned that as root works, but not that he want to run it as root.
Secondly if you want to customize your tint2 settings for root, try creating and editing /root/.config/tint2/tint2rc.
He didn't said that...
