Hi,
I have a strange problem during boot-up on my laptop (HP Compaq 8710w). The problem is, that it boots only once every ~5 tries. In most cases when I start it, it loads the kernel and the initial ramdisk but then it stops booting with the following messages:
ERROR: resume: hibernation device '/dev/mapper/swap' not found.
ERROR: device '/dev/mapper/root' not found. Skipping fsck.
ERROR: unable to find root device '/dev/mapper/root'.
and then it drops me to the recovery shell, unfortunately I cannot decrypt root partition manually (like running 'cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sda3 root') because the hard drive does not show up in /dev/
The only thing that seems to "help" is simply to restart the system until it asks me for the passwords for the hard drives (but then it still does not find the swap partition that should be mounted by the openswap hook)
This problem did not start recently, I think it is in this state since October last year but I dont use that machine so often and didn't have the time to fix it.
I don't think its a hardware issue, because the problem showed up immediately after a system upgrade. I also checked whether the hard drive is properly connected, but reconnecting it didn't solve the issue.
I am running systemd (in case it is worth knowing) but the problem was already present when running on sysv-init.
I followed the guide from https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dm-crypt_with_LUKS to setup the hard drive encryption.
If anyone has an idea what to do to fix the problem or to supply you with the necessary information, please tell me.

Does your kernel boot line include init=/bin/systemd?
I may have to CONSOLE you about your usage of ridiculously easy graphical interfaces...
