Elo Touchscreen in Dualhead Issues

Hello all,

I have recently acquired an Elo Touchsystems  IPS monitor from the garbage!  smile

The digitizer is a simple capacitive USB touchscreen.  Here are the results of lsusb:

[me@mypc ~]$ lsusb
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 8087:0024 Intel Corp. Integrated Rate Matching Hub
Bus 005 Device 002: ID 8087:0024 Intel Corp. Integrated Rate Matching Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 0451:1446 Texas Instruments, Inc. TUSB2040/2070 Hub
Bus 003 Device 004: ID 0451:2046 Texas Instruments, Inc. TUSB2046 Hub
Bus 003 Device 005: ID 05fc:7849 Harman Multimedia Harman/Kardon SoundSticks
Bus 003 Device 006: ID 1a7c:0191 Evoluent VerticalMouse 4
Bus 003 Device 007: ID 04e7:0020 Elo TouchSystems Touchscreen Interface (2700)
[me@mypc ~]$

I want to use it with a mouse, as well.  (The mouse will be used on both of my monitors.)

Here is my screen layout, generated by arandr, if it helps:

[me@mypc ~]$ cat ~/.screenlayout/dell+elo.sh
#!/bin/sh
xrandr --output DP3 --off --output DP2 --off --output DP1 --off --output HDMI3 --off --output HDMI2 --off --output HDMI1 --mode 1440x900 --pos 0x0 --rotate normal --output VGA1 --mode 1280x1024 --pos 1440x504 --rotate normal

The GPU driving the monitors (for now) is an Intel HD 4000.  I've been pretty happy with the out-of-the-box support under Linux with it.  smile

However, I've ran into a snag in configuring it.  I found that when running with a second monitor with an extended desktop, the digitizer is mapped for all of the viewable area, instead of just the touchscreen.  I would love to use this monitor as my secondary one for drawing and touching up images in the GIMP.  Could anyone steer me in the right direction as to what I need to do or what I can read in order to solve this?

Thanks in advance,
~axuak

Hey I have the same problem on my tablet PC. It's got a Wacom digitizer screen.

Re: Elo Touchscreen in Dualhead Issues

Well, I did some searching today and found some potentially useful threads.  I will check them out and mark this question as solved if it works correctly...

Here are the relevant threads:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/204737/u … ion/215950
http://askubuntu.com/questions/51445/ho … tor-system
http://askubuntu.com/questions/71768/to … al-monitor

They all appear to use a tool called xinput-calibrator.  I'll try to get it working on Arch and post back my results here...  I can't seem to find it in the repos, however, so I may be stuck with building it from source... hmm

Re: Elo Touchscreen in Dualhead Issues

Oh my goodness!  I love my PC so much lol!  I built the xinput-calibrator program in less than 10 seconds, LOL!

(I have an Ivy Bridge machine with 32GB of RAM and an ASUS Z77 Thunderbolt mobo!)

Good news!!  It opens!!  However, the digitizer on my screen is upside down.  I'm gonna take five and remount the Elo digitizer...
