Hi,

I have latest, updated arch linux with window manager as openbox which i installed from AUR.
I have also installed chromium and firefox.

Yesterday morning, browsers were running fine when suddenly audio disappeared from flash videos. Also at the same time mplayer, mpg123, vlc have no audio output.

I have searched all the arch wiki, read alsa website, arch forum for a proper answer.

I ran the very comprehensive alsa diagnostic script for a diagnosis, but i am unable to understand why audio stops while running either flash or the video players i have just installed.

Are the channels muted in alsamixer?

First thing to check would be:
1) run alsamixer and ensure sound channels aren't muted (doubt it is muted as per your diagnostics but never hurts)
2) ensure that the proper audio device is selected
3) plugin headphones and check if audio works

Maybe some logs would help, preferably the boot logs.

No, they are not.
Flash videos were working till yesterday morning, when suddenly only audio output stopped while flash video was running. At the same time, i checked mplayer, mpeg123 , there is no audio output there aswell.

alsamixer is not muted.
audio devices, would it be in the proc/asound folder!!
no sound in headphones.
boot logs, output from dmesg.

these are various files and folder in /var/log, which one do you need.
i cant see a deamon.log or kernel.log file here.

i looked at alsa.org again,

i found,
/etc/rc.d/alsa
/etc/conf.d/alsa

both scripts point to /var/lib/alsa/asound.state for configuration at boot.
