Am I safe to remove libgl before installing mesa?

I have the same thing. What to do with that?

I have the same.

pacman -Syyu
Or wait until your mirror resynchs....

pacman -Syyu
That did not help. Exactly the same error:

Hmm... strange. I had the same error message but just right now the same command pacman -Syyu executed successfully.

The dev pushed a fix; it just takes time to propagate across all the mirrors...

Pacman failed to upgrade to mesa 9.1.2 and mesa-libgl 9.1-2 . It attempts the following changes:
khrplatform-devel-9.0.2-1 [removal] libegl-9.0.2-1 [removal] libgbm-9.0.2-1 [removal] libglapi-9.0.2-1 [removal]
Subsequently, this message is spat out.
mesa: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri/swrast_dri.so exists in filesystem
mesa-libgl: /usr/lib/libGL.so exists in filesystem
mesa-libgl: /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 exists in filesystem

Fixed for me after resyncing my pacman mirrors.

Seamless. Worked after I retried a few hours later.

Still waiting for this to solve for me, but I'll just wait and see if the propagation takes effect. I've tried to change some of the mirrors I have as well, but still nothing. I'll give it more time before starting to worry

This update killed X for me under VMware Fusion. I can start X if I change my video driver from vmware to vesa, but that's just a workaround.
Offline
this update brought some big issues to my system:
- networkmanager.service doesn't start anymore
- bluetooth.service as well
- startup is really slow, KDE hangs
- CPU has really high temperature while doing nothing special (so more or less idle)
What to do? Shall I open a new thread with these problems? It is quite serious.

Doesn't sound related - I'd open a new thread if I were you.

Same here. VMWare Workstation 8 Arch guest crashes when loading X now unless vesa driver is used.

Report a bug upstream
Started the process (hopefully that is the correct upstream place), if someone has Xorg logs or a trace to post please do, I won't be able to get to those for a bit.
