[solved] pidgin (prpltwtr) incoming tweets display problems

Hey Archers,

sorry if the subject appears confusing.

I appear to be having an issue with pidgin using prpltwtr plugin whereby all incoming tweets look like this:

RT @CrusePhoto (prpltwtr:///user?account=at0mr4nd&text=%40CrusePhoto&protocol_id=prpl-twitter): @SethMacFarlane (prpltwtr:///user?account=at0mr4nd&text=%40SethMacFarlane&protocol_id=prpl-twitter) Would you host the #Oscars (prpltwtr:///search?account=at0mr4nd&text=%23Oscars&protocol_id=prpl-twitter) again if asked? // No way. Lotta fun to have done it, though. * (prpltwtr:///actions?account=at0mr4nd&user=SethMacFarlane&id=306316660833386496&text=RT%20%40CrusePhoto%3A%20%40SethMacFarlane%20%20Would%20you%20host%20the%20%23Oscars%20again%20if%20asked%3F%20%2F%2F%20No%20way.%20%20Lotta%20fun%20to%20have%20done%20it%2C%20though.&conv_type=2&conv_name=Timeline%3A%20Home&in_reply_to_status_id=0&protocol_id=prpl-twitter)

I have searched on google etc but cannot find anything that may or may not cause this, I have tried to disable all pugins & disabled all other accounts but alas the issue remains.

Do any of you Archers know the cause of this?

I am really lost on this one, thanks in advance for any & all responses.

Re: [solved] pidgin (prpltwtr) incoming tweets display problems

Solved!

Ok so I went out on a limb:

1) uninstalled the pidgin package & all plugins for libpurple
2) backed up my .purple folder (as I have had this for some years on different distro's)
3) reinstalled pidgin, finch & plugins
4) copied configuration files & conversation logs, etc from old .purple to new .purple one at a time

all appears to be ok now!
wish I knew what caused that weird behaviour though
