Since a few days I noticed, that there is no notification popup in KDE. I tried to test it with notify-send and some other programs which are using libnotify, but I don't get notifications. As a workaround I'm using now /usr/lib/notification-daemon-1.0/notification-daemon, but it's not the same as the KDE notifications.
knotify4 is running...
Does someone know why I don't get notifications?

Have you tried configuring the notifications in the system settings and/or the tray icon? It's hard to help, if we don't know what you have tried so far.
I tried to add and remove the tray icon, but there are still no notifications. Notifications are enabled in the system setting, but there is no popup and no list of notifications the tray icon. Is there an extra source for libnotify notifications the in the system settings?
Did you activate the different sources in the tray icon itself? Right click on the tray icon, you can select different sources there.
Application notifications and File transfers and jobs are checked.
Okay, the obvious reasons have been ruled out :-)
Well, notify-send should connect to the KDE notifier.
- I still don't know every component of KDE, but I guess knotify4 requires a working dbus session. How do you start KDE? With startx or kdm?
- You should remove the other notifier while you fix the problem, because I am not sure, whether they block each other.
- Try moving your ~/.kde folder to a backup location (outside KDE of course, logout first), to see if it is a problem with your config or the system.
I'm starting it with kdm via systemd. I will try the other options later and report then.
I can give a small update now: Notifications for copiing files are working and the success message after that, but no notifications with libnotify.
After renaming the .kde folder and relogging the notifications are working again. Thanks
So we still don't know why, but we can be sure it was a configuration problem.
If you're rebuilding your desktop, then mark as solved.
