Hello,
My mobo has integrated sound ALI5455 - it uses the snd_intel8x0 Alsa driver. I have audio playback including dmix working perfectly.
But, when I try to record from my TV card using both Zapping and MythTV, the audio on my captures have horrible feedback.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Anyone else? This is driving me nuts! My tv card is a Leadtek Winfast 2000xp Expert. It captures perfect in Windows, net I'm pretty sure it's not an interference issue..
I'm guessing mpie is on the right track, but I've tried so many ALSA combo's, I'm totally stuck.. Playback of any sounds, including TV is perfect. My audio is integrated Realtek 850... I could go cheap SB Live route, but I'm not sure I have to.. I'm betting I just have a setting incorrect.
Help!

Try muting things, like the mic or the capture.

Yep, muted everything...including mic/capture.. If I mute capture I get no sound recorded.. Net, it needs to be on.. When I get home, I'll try to screen capture my settings and post if that helps..
thx

mpie,
I do have a video option, but it won't let me turn it down.. Each time I try to pull it down, it just goes straight back to the top... I'm using GNOME for my DE. I'm at work now and can't post mixer settings.. I'll post as soon as I get home tonight..
Thanks!

first off you need to trace where the tvcards sound is piped in, my guess is pcm, try turning that down, I would turn the video option off, I have had trouble with other apps using pcm and oss paths whilst that is up.
it really is a matter of trial and error..
if I had a tv card then maybe i could be more specific..
but when i was capturing from a record player plugged in to mic, I had to mute mike and use capture, so the devices used are not always the ones you would assume they are
also I would change the jack to shared not independent I have had errors caused by that.....
tis the exact same card.......

TV card's audio is connected to CD-In on mobo.. I've tried turning video option off, but no joy.. I'll try turning PCM down.. I haven't tried that yet!

no joy on pcm..

if its plugged in to cd in turn cd down....
is it an analogue or digital connection, again on this card there are options to change this, I would leave the gnome-mixer as is and alter via alsamixer in a term use up to change the entries and m to mute/unmute

mpie,
Thanks for sticking with me on this ... Yes, it's plugged into CD in.. I'll try muting it via alsamixer tonight when I get home from work.
Thanks!

OK, I give up! I've tried every combo I can think of.. Does anyone know if buying a SB 16 or SB Live card will definitely fix it or am I better off buying a PVR150 and be done with it?
