Suspend-to-RAM doesn't turn the screen off, just blanks it

Hello,

I'm suspending my T30 to RAM using the hibernate script via /sys/power/state. The problem is, this doesn't turn the screen off. It blanks it, but the backlight is still on. I've tried xset dpms force off as well -- it does the same thing.

When I just close the lid without suspending the machine first, it turns the display off. But not if the machine is already suspended.

I think I've read about some similar bug in a X.org bugzilla concerning the radeon drive (Mobility 7500/M7 here), but AFAIR it had only one reporter and no activity...

Thanks anyone for suggestions!

Well, radeontool partially did the trick. But I still don't know whether it turns off the whole LCD or just the backlight...

Anyway, isn't this a bug in the X.org radeon driver?
