Startx freezes on "Loading extension GLX"

Hi guys I'm new here so i hope you forgive my newb questions.

So, i was a very satisfied archlinux user for months, till i got this problem 3 days ago after the usual pacman -Syu.

When i use the startx i get the message "Loading extension GLX" and the system just freezes there. It wont start, it wont shutdown it freezes. I managed to get the Xorg.log from the machine and i'm posting it here.

Re: Startx freezes on "Loading extension GLX"

I can work around the problem with startx -- -extension GLX

Thanks, I'm having the same problem and this workaround seems to do OK for now.

Re: Startx freezes on "Loading extension GLX"

Thanks in advance, for your help.

Your workarround worked and i managed to start LXDE and i see the desktop. The problem is now another one. I get 2 horizontal white bars crossing the screen, blinking and fading. I cant see the taskbar. I can open pdf, images but cant open programs( cant open terminator shell for instance).

Could it be a problem from LXDE?

I have been told that mesa (which have been causing this problems) is a very buggy peace of software and its optional. Is there a way to get rid of it?

I solved my problem at some days ago. Another folk from this forum found a workarround, less obvious that involved removing mesa, mess with libgl and then reinstall and older version of Mesa. It worked, but yesterday i updated the system and i got glx freeze again. Iam getting kind of sick of Mesa.

Thanks once more.

If you don't want mesa to update when you update you system, you can always blacklist it in pacman.conf and it won't be updated when you update your system.
