[solved] Back In Time restoration process

Hello,

I have a basic question related to Back In Time backup program and the procedure of the restoration process. As far as I understood, Back In Time allows me to create a one-click snapshot of my entire root system (I only need / and not /home) which can then be restored to give me an exact replicate of the system at a given point in time.

So, let's say I save this snapshot on my external hard disk and my system crashes then, i.e. it no longer boots. Thus I cannot launch Back In Time to restore the snapshot.

How would I proceed in this case?

Is it possible to boot from a live disk, install Back In Time and then launching Back In Time in the live environment to restore my system with one click?

Re: [solved] Back In Time restoration process

Thank you teateawhy,

In the link you provided they talk about a fresh installation. I was more talking about a live environment from which to restore the snapshot.

Thus, I would assume that it is not possible from a live medium.

But if anyone knows more, please let me know.

It seems to be possible. There is an answer in the launchpad forum: https://answers.launchpad.net/backintim … ion/224535
