Random system hang at boot after ntp install, fixing the clock

So recently I wanted to fix my clock and was told to install ntp and run some commands to set the hardware clock to utc. That fixed the clock but now every once in a while my system hangs at boot at the following:

[7.999294] i2400m_usb 1-1.2:1.0: firmware innterface version 9.3.2
[8.028243] usbcore: registered new interface driver
[8.078413] systemd-udevd[160]: renamed network interface wmx0 to enp0s26u1u2

at this point the system hangs. If i press Enter i get the log in text from console (my display manager doesnt run):

Arch Linux 3.7.10-1-Arch (tty1)
localhost login:

at this point i can log in and when i try to reboot the system hangs again. At some point i also tried to start x from here and it failed to start.

Like i said all I did was install ntp, fix my clock setting hwclock to utc.

Any help would be appreciated, as i have already searched the web for this problem and i cant find anything similar.

Re: Random system hang at boot after ntp install, fixing the clock

Well it sounds like the system is booting fine.  You are just getting the end of the boot messages being written over the log in prompt.

But as far as the DM, I have no idea, as I don't use one.  If you actually want help though, this is not nearly enough information to really go on.

Re: Random system hang at boot after ntp install, fixing the clock

i know, but i really dont know what else to include. I dont know what log files i should be reading. Im new to Arch

EDIT: I just checked my /var/log/slim.log file and i notice every time the system fails it has the message::

slim: unexpected signal 15

EDIT: i also get the following message in slim.log:

slim: pam_end: system error
