Legend of Grimrock and i3wm - mouse clicks don't work

Hello!
I played Legend of Grimrock on my XPS 15 laptop using primusrun on Openbox without any problems. Now as I switched to i3, when I start this game, either with primusrun or without, it shows up, sound works etc. I can navigate the menu with keyboard arrows, move the cursor around, but there is no reaction to clicks, so I am not able to go past the New/Load Game screen.

My question is: have any of you encountered this problem (especially using i3)? Is there any workaround?

Here is my i3 config file:

# This file has been auto-generated by i3-config-wizard(1).
# It will not be overwritten, so edit it as you like.
#
# Should you change your keyboard layout somewhen, delete
# this file and re-run i3-config-wizard(1).
#

# i3 config file (v4)
#
# Please see http://i3wm.org/docs/userguide.html for a complete reference!

# is used in the bar {} block below. ISO 10646 = Unicode

Let me BUMP and the similar question worded differently.

Are there any i3 users who played this game without problems?

Re: Legend of Grimrock and i3wm - mouse clicks don't work

The game works for me under i3. The only problem is looking around with the mouse while right clicking, but I understand that the issue affects the linux version in general?
I don't use this primusrun thing.

Re: Legend of Grimrock and i3wm - mouse clicks don't work

Thank you for your time! If it's not secret, could you post your i3 config just to be sure I didn't mess mine wink.

Regarding looking around: I could do this, but it was odd - after right click the camera centered at my feet, then I could look around while holding the button.

Primus is not the problem - it doesn't work without it either, however it's a must have to play Team Fortress 2 (thx Valve!) on my laptop.

One question for you occurs to me: do you have Grimrock set to a fullscreen display mode, or one of the others? I have it set to "borderless".
After trying to set it to fullscreen, I too had the difficulties you describe.

Edit:
Try editing ~/.local/share/Almost\ Human/Legend\ of\ Grimrock/grimrock.cfg -- change displayMode to 2 or 3, and the resolution to to take into account bars at the top and bottom of your screen. Kind of annoying; I'd forgotten all about this. I use displayMode 3 and resolution 1920 x 1060.

Hope that helps!

Re: Legend of Grimrock and i3wm - mouse clicks don't work

I tried your config and changed display mode to 2 and 3, resolution 1366x748. No luck. Meh, maybe the best solution is to start the game on new X server. I'll report whether it works.

Update:
Strange. I have 2 Grimrocks installed. One is the direct copy from Humble installed in my home directory. The second one is built from AUR, both from the same installer. And the AUR version is problematic, the "original" works flawlessly. Strange.

Re: Legend of Grimrock and i3wm - mouse clicks don't work

I'm smacking a potentially dead horse here... but did anything else come from this? I installed Legend of Grimrock (incidentally while running i3) sometime back (always from the AUR) and it ran beautifully. Then, a month or so ago I made the move to KDE, and Grimrock had this issue: mouse clicks didn't work no matter what I tried.

I recently did a fresh install, and got excited thinking whatever I did should be fixed... same issue (this time in Cinnamon, I DE/WM hop a lot). Yet it works for me in Debian... so there's something specifically about the AUR version that's not quite right.

I'll try the regular install tonight, but please let me know if you find anything else out. I made a comment on the AUR package (last comment was in January). Would love to at least know *why* it's suddenly gone bonkers on me.

UPDATE: Installing from the script downloaded from HB works just fine. Which begs the question of what goes on with the AUR install. Grr...
