I don't see how linux users would be interested in this. I think they would get a lot more support for just new features and polish. This way development will inevitably be stalled in favor of the mac and windows ports.

then you havent read the kickstarter page. its about a whole new engine, with better stability and features. the windows port is just one side effect of this.
the engine is even nearly done, but it needs to be implemented
