So I got an old gericom laptop and I put arch on it, everything seems to work ok but video. I can't seem to get fullscreen video with any player, it just creates black fill around the video when I try to go fullscreen. It uses a SiS video card.
So if anyone has any info on how to solve this or is it even possible, I'd appreciate it.

Gericom Webshox Per4mance? I have one of those
. 14.1'' display, 1024x768 resolution, SiS 650 graphics, 256MB ram
Obvious questions: Did you install xf86-video-sis? Is the player configured to use xv? Most SiS chips do not have 3d accel support in Linux, so gl output isn't available, but they do have a hardware overlay that xv can use for video playback. I used that a lot back in the day, S-video output to an old-school CRT TV to watch shows and movies.

That's the one! ![]()
Yeah I have the video drivers. If I set the output to xv I can't even see the video, just the sound. If it's gl, I can see it, I can go fullscreen but it lags like hell...
also: [VO_XV] It seems there is no Xvideo support for your video card available.

Hmm, weird. Install xorg-xvinfo and run it. Though I have the feeling it'll say "No Adaptors". But there should be one, this is the xvinfo from mine:

Just a FYI - there's no need to use ShadowFB anymore, the driver has been fixed so that EXA works. That's not the problem though, Xv works even with ShadowFB. And your log shows Xv is being loaded. No idea then why it isn't available.
Ok, found one interesting thing in the log:
[ 10976.400] (II) SIS(0): Failed to allocate video RAM for video data transfer benchmarkThat does not look good. You should instead have something like this:
[ 32.276] (II) SIS(0): Benchmarking system RAM to video RAM memory transfer methods:
[ 32.288] (--) SIS(0): Checked libc memcpy()... 358.4 MiB/s

[ 32.368] (--) SIS(0): Checked SSE memcpy()... 452.1 MiB/s
[ 32.377] (--) SIS(0): Checked MMX2 memcpy()... 430.9 MiB/s
[ 32.377] (--) SIS(0): Using SSE method for aligned data transfers to video RAM
[ 32.377] (--) SIS(0): Using MMX2 method for unaligned data transfers to video RAMHow much RAM did you give to graphics in the bios? You can choose from 8MB to 64MB. I'd give it at least 32MB. Then there's only one other thing I can think of - Arch kernels do not have sisfb anymore. Shouldn't actually matter, but you could try compiling your own kernel and include sisfb in it.
Also, probably unrelated, but you should do it anyway - load the p4_clockmod module.

It was at 32MB, tried with 64 aaand now it works! Thanks for the clockmod tip, although the pretty much dead battery won't benefit from it...
