AUR votes and either cryptic drama or maybe just spam?

Seems like some packages on the AUR have become pretty popular pretty quickly (link shows the 50 top-voted AUR packages):

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/?O=0 … _Search=Go

Moreover, there's a bunch of cryptic nonsense that is repeated verbatim, sometimes two messages in a row with the exact text posted some hours later.

Tried to stalk as best I could, but I can't determine who did what, but it sounds like it was either pretty stupid or malicious.

I'd appreciate more information; however, I understand providing information may be inappropriate.

Hope all is well.

Someone was targetting gtmanfred: a little while back, all his packages were flagged outdated.

I suspect this is part of that (puerile) pattern...

Are all those comments quotes from 2001: A Space Odyssey?

Yes. It is the attacker's idea of a sense of humour.

Can (and will) the AUR revert, somehow, to its state prior to this callow user's "attack?"

Thank both of you for your question and insight; concerning the "2001: A Space Odyssey" quotes, they're apparently customized (changed names, at least) to specifically target the project (Arch GNU/Linux) and individual (gtmanfred).
