Rename with test option

Hi,
common Linux distros seem to have a -n option for testing a rename syntax but in Arch there is only -v according to man?

I want to rename using regexp syntax, should I use some alternatives than the default rename command?

Re: Rename with test option

vidir is clear and easy.
You're talking about perl-rename:

Re: Rename with test option

On Ubuntu, rename is an "alternative" that can be changed, the default is to use /usr/bin/prename, which as Procyon said is perl-rename. Arch and Scientific Linux use util-linux's rename.

You should use something else if you're hoping to make a distro-agnostic script.
