What does "cat /proc/cmdline" show?
Offline
cat /proc/cmdline
BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-linux root=UUID=deff7182-f14b-4c08-b619-59bb55643738 ro quietOffline
When using a swap partition, you need to have resume parameter in the kernel line. When using a swap file, you additionally need resume_offset. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sw … e_resuming
Remember to add resume hook to mkinitcpio.conf and rebuild the image, otherwise it won't thaw.
Offline
thats odd.
I have in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf
HOOKS="base udev autodetect modconf block filesystems keyboard fsck resume"and in /etc/default/grub
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet resume_offset=1664561"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="resume=/dev/sda1"and after that i ran:
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
and then:
mkinitcpio -p linux
although one odd thing i did notice is that the output for filefrag -v doesn't quite match theirs. I got
Filesystem type is: ef53
Filesystem cylinder groups approximately 118
File size of /swapfile is 3221225472 (786432 blocks of 4096 bytes)

Does it not hibernate or thaw with those things in place?
Offline
nope. i had actually already done all of this previously, before i posted to the forums.

Are you sure you're booting with those resume parameters? /proc/cmdline shows what paramaters were used, and yours doesn't have those.
Maybe having resume in the first line, preferably before resume_offset, would make it work.

so i decided to reboot and then tried once again to hibernate and it worked!
i feel so silly...thanks for helping!
although the hibernate and waking times were extremely slow for just hibernating 2 xterms and a 1 tab browser.
