gnome-panel ugliness with pixmap/SVG themes

Take a look at this picture, at the sides of the panel - where the arrows are pointing. Is it just me, or does it seem that some of the pixmaps are displaced a few pixels from where they ought to be?

This seems to happen only with pixmap and SVG themes, and only when the panel is not expanded to full size. It's a minor problem, but kind of ugly... Is this a known bug, and is there a workaround?
