global menu for cinnamon

So I have been searching for this for ages. Looks like tons of people want it but no one has ported the gnome3 version to cinnamon, as far as I know.
Does anyone know anything about this? Has it been created yet?

I highly doubt the Mint devs will work on such a feature.

I would also be really interested in this, I've tried using both indicator-appmenu and global menu for gnome and neither of them work in cinnamon. I'm wondering if either of these projects can be forked and adapted to cinnamon. Since cinnamon is forked from gnome I doubt there would be too many things that would have to be changed in order to get it working. I unfortunately don't really have any experience with programming and wouldn't know where to start with doing something like this, but I'd love to learn and try to adapt one of these to cinnamon.
