I am trying to print a CD jewel case image. Every time I make sure under page setup it says "scale = 100%", but it prints this monstrosity that is way too large. This occurs if I print it within the gimp or the eog image viewer.
What do I have to do? This is so annoying.

What kind of file are you printing? Does the file have size meta-data? Can you print to a pdf and get what you expect in the pdf?

It's a jpg that I just created in the gimp. It's a CD jewel case paper.
I haven't tried with a pdf, but that shouldn't be necessary, I don't think, right?

It's only necessary if you want to learn what is wrong. I proposed it not as a long term solution, but as a diagnostic step.

What's the document/canvas size? It could be printing at 100% scale for an A2 poster or something.

Ok, I don't get it.
I opened openoffice and added the image, exported it as a pdf document, and printed. It is horizontal in orientation now - instead of vertical and enlarged as it was before - but it's still too big. It's still enlarging the image!
I'm printing on US letter paper, and the image is 575 x 446 pixels.

Are you sure the image is actually in the dimensions you're expecting?
In gimp, Image -> "Image Properties" will tell you the "Print size" of the image.
But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist.

Image -> "Image Properties" gives 575 x 446 pixels.

You don't see anything like that?

Sorry, I didn't mean for you to import the image into some other tool to make a document then a pdf - I mean't just print to pdf from gimp. This would allow you to see exactly what would be printed, and I assume it'd be too large.
This would be because of the size meta-data which is what I first asked about and was trying to get at - alphaniner has shown exactly this.

205.70 × 159.55 millimeters, alphaniner.
@ Trilby: whoops, lol!

That's not ridiculously large, but still bigger than a CD case (which should be 12x12cm I think).

Ya, but when it prints, it's like twice the size. That's the whole problem.
