Lenovo Ideapad U310 wifi problems

Hi,
I've had Arch up and running on my Ideapad u310 for like half a year. Recently, it started having problems with wifi connection.
First, it seemed that it didn't scan the networks after resume from suspend. It either wanted to connect to the network it was connected before though I was nowhere near that, or it just showed like the third of the available networks, and none of them were the ones it knew and could connect to. Ok, I thought, let's do this manually. So I made a service file called "/etc/systemd/system/root-resume.service" with the content:

[Unit]
Description=Local system resume actions
After=suspend.target

[Service]
Type=simple
ExecStart=-/root/.scripts/scan_network.sh

[Install]
WantedBy=suspend.target

/root/.scripts/scan_network.sh contains "sleep 5s && /usr/sbin/iwlist wlan0 scanning".

I enabled the service, restarted the computer many times since then, but this doesn't solve the problem either.

I'm not sure if it's a software problem though, because I've had other wifi problems on Ubuntu, and on Window 7, too.

Any idea what could be the problem?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Lenovo Ideapad U310 wifi problems

What network management tools are you using?  You refer to the networks not being ones "it knew and could connect to." What is it?

If a rescan with iwlist solves the problem, then this is not a hardware problem, nor should that systemd service file be needed - you just need to either properly configure your network management tool, or get a better one.

Re: Lenovo Ideapad U310 wifi problems

It seems that with my custom built 3.6.9.1 kernel doesn't have this problem, so I guess it's a kernel bug in the 3.8 series.
Not marking this as solved yet though, because I'm not 100% sure yet.
