Thank you brebs for your reply.
First of all while playing a video on imdb using firefox if I run "cat /proc/asound/card0/pcm0c/sub0/hw_params " I get the "closed" reply. Is that normal?
And my understanding is that I need to change the period_size and buffer_size but on which file?
Looking forward for your reply,
Regards,

Try card1, then. Go through the numbers until you find the card you're using - usually it's card0.
Usual file to set this up in is ~/.asoundrc

thank you for your prompt reply.
I have three entries:
0 [U0x46d0x809 ]: USB-Audio - USB Device 0x46d:0x809
USB Device 0x46d:0x809 at usb-0000:00:1a.7-5, high speed
1 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
HDA Intel at 0xfbff8000 irq 45
2 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
HDA NVidia at 0xfe8fc000 irq 17
and
cat /proc/asound/card1/pcm0c/sub0/hw_params
closed
cat /proc/asound/card2/pcm0c/sub0/hw_params
cat: /proc/asound/card2/pcm0c/sub0/hw_params: No such file or directory
And for some reason I do not have any file ~/.asoundrc
Just to be clear I obviously use pulseaudio on the system.

So play some music while this is being done, to open it.

I am playing a video from imdb at the same time.

Use your ingenuity and search harder
find /proc/asound/ -name hw_params

Right, thank you for your help.
See below results of those commands, it's seems that the period_size and the buffer_size are allowed enough space? (all those were runned while plaing video on IMDB)
[sweetth@linuxbox ~]$ find /proc/asound/ -name hw_params
/proc/asound/card2/pcm9p/sub0/hw_params

Also I mentioned I do not use /.asoundrc but use /etc/asound.conf (see below for the content)
# Use PulseAudio by default
pcm.!default {
type pulse
fallback "sysdefault"
hint {
show on
description "Default ALSA Output (currently PulseAudio Sound Server)"
}
}
ctl.!default {

fallback "sysdefault"
}

period_size: 44100

Yup, only pulseaudio would choose values that weird.
I don't use pulseaudio, so you'll have to google it yourself. Maybe just changing the rate to 48000 will suffice - check what your hardware desires.

Just to keep you updated or for anyone with the same issue, the solution of my problem was (and I am ashamed of writing it) in the wiki!
