Hi,
since the very beginning I have some terrible issues with the internal mic of my thinkpad edge E330.
Regarding Alsa (aplay -l) I have a ALC269VC device, which is, however, supported by alsa, see this link.
However, I cannot record with a moderate or even high quality. The volume is pretty low and difficult to achieve. Regarding alsamixer, I can edit the following channels : MIC, MIC BOOST, CAPTURE, DIGITAL, INTERNAL MIC BOOST.
Following my intuition, I turned on the mixer of MIC and INTERNAL MIC BOOST. But it doesn't work. A mix of MIC 100, CAPTURE 42, DIGITAL 100, *BOOST 0, results in a
very low volume. Changing one of the BOOST parameter leads to a strong disturbance and electrical noise dumping the recorded volume even more.
Touching the mic with my fingers results in a rather loud noise.
I don't know how to treat this issue. I followed the Alsa article, I load the sound driver in /etc/modules-load/50-sound.conf via
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1 model=auto #ALC259
Further I tried models like thinkpad, ALC259 and ALC3202 ( which are an alias for ALC269VC ).
I really like to use my laptop without any external mic.
Does someone has got a thinkpad edge as well and likes to share knowledge getting through this issue ?
Many thanks in advance!!!

No cause is lost if there is but one fool left to fight for it.

Well, there doesn't seem to be any solution ?

solution should always be, and it is, you need to spare some time on it, sorry for being philosophical
I just don't know it yet.

Try to install pavucontrol and choose microphone (external microphone) instead of internal microphone.
