1. Use code tags. https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#bbcode
2. How did you start bumblebee?

sorry, I have edited the message again.

I  have installed the bumblebee, nvidia driver and intel driver:

pacman -S xf86-intel-video intel-dri bumblebee nvidia bbswitch primus

and add to the bumblebee group:

 gpasswd -a me bumblebee

and start  bumblebee automatically at startup:

systemctl enable bumblebeed

and edit the /etc/bumblebee/bumblebee.conf:

Bridge=primus

that's all

Re: can't use bumblebee with gt540m video card

Did a search on your kernel trace, couldn't find any thing even remotely of relavance. Does your optimus work on windows 7 if you possibly have? So that we can find out if its an hardware issue.

Re: can't use bumblebee with gt540m video card

The optimus works  well on  win8 and I  have  played the Crysis3 on my laptop last month.
I should point out is  that the kernel panic is not  appears  everytime on my laptop.
Sometimes I type:

optirun XXXX

it's work very well, but sometimes it's broken,so I think the bumblebee is not strong for the gt540m video card, and the terrible thing is I don't know the next time it will works well or broben.... sad sad

Sorry for my poor English sad sad

Re: can't use bumblebee with gt540m video card

I would still check the RAM with memtest86 before resorting to it as a bug.

Re: can't use bumblebee with gt540m video card

When the bumblebee works on my laptop,I  use it to watch the movie with mplayer, the CPU usage is verg high(about 20%).
I think if the video card really works, the CPU usage should be very  low(maybe <10%).
So I don't know is the bumblee really works or maybe it just cheat me,because  I can't see any message from the terminal tongue

Your meaning is I should check the RAM?

Re: can't use bumblebee with gt540m video card

My CPU usage is also the same. I have checked it in many Nvidia based Linux computers and I can confirm that your CPU usage is what is expected in Linux.

Re: can't use bumblebee with gt540m video card

Is there  anything I can do to avoid the kernel panic when I used the bumblebee?  I have followed the wiki to enable NVIDIA card during shutdown and edit the xorg.conf, but the kernel panic also appears sometimes.
It will make me to carry,I can't do anything except to press power button and force shutdown my laptop。
This is my hardware list:
CPU: i5-480
Memory:4G
Video Card:intel/gt540m

Re: can't use bumblebee with gt540m video card

I have the same nvidia card and the same CPU as you and I don't have any problem using it with bumblebee so I would exclude the "poor card support" theory.
By the way, new beta nvidia drivers (319.12) which are already in Aur,  introduce Optimus native support in Linux; maybe you can give them a try.

Re: can't use bumblebee with gt540m video card

Well 319.12 drivers is in beta stage and not a fully developed optimus yet. Its going to throw more inconsistent experience for sure.

Currently bumblebee is the best option available.

Well 319.12 drivers is in beta stage and not a fully developed optimus yet. Its going to throw more inconsistent experience for sure.

Currently bumblebee is the best option available.

You're probably right, maybe he can still consider this as last option.

@jiangkero: Did you try launching programs using

primusrun

?

I see you are using primus as your bridge. Have you tried to set your config file back to default and launch with optirun ? Primus is still young and can have problems. Maybe virtualGL will work for you.

Dont have to edit that. You will have to install primus and start your apps with that in Terminal.

He tried previously and he still had the kernel panic. So my idea was to try virtualgl instead of primus.

Yes, sorry for my unclear answer. Normaly optirun should use virtualgl. Let see (and hope not) if it also cause you a kernel panic.
